In the Same Boat

I read a Slate article today on why toddlers freak out.

http://www.slate.com/articles/double_x/the_kids/2013/02/why_does_my_kid_freak_out_the_science_behind_toddler_tantrums.html

It explained my morning, as Little Bit wanted to go "commando," then without pants today. It's nice to know other folks out there started their day in much the same way.

And this is hilarious! From comedian Jason Good:

Chatting away

How much do I love my flower loom?

and

I was excited to be able to put those on Etsy for Spring. Sure, I can't take those professional-looking photos that make the top picks- but I think these are pretty cool.

Little Bit has been talking up a storm lately! Yesterday, as his Mega Block towers were swaying, he'd steady them with a "Whew, that was close!" And over the weekend, as Kit Kat was walking back and forth over him as he was trying to nap (okay, I was trying to get him to nap), he said that she should "wear pants and shoes." It was hilarious. I'll get right on that one.

Love and Peanut Butter

Goodness, so many things going on! I've been addicted to my flower loom lately, but it's not as instantly gratifying as the larger looms, so I finished fewer projects. Which is tragic, because Little Bit has gotten into a phase where he's saying everything remotely adorable is "cute!" and kissing it. The new quirk was funny at a petting zoo birthday party last weekend.

I've also found a great recipe for peanut butter bars while cooking for a bake sale. Yes, "easy" is in the name- that's why I choose it.

Today, I'm kicking back with some ravioli lasagna from the freezer and a glass of cabernet. Good end to the week!

Hair-Raising, Part 2

And here's my finished cat hair finger puppet, with bead eyes secured with fabric glue.

Not a terrible first attempt! I have no idea what to do with it; it's too fragile to be a toy. But it makes me laugh.

I'm in a good mood because it's consignment time, too! I always go overboard at consignment sales. As an exhibit, I submit this photo of one of Little Bit's birthday presents I bought at a Fall sale. It wasn't a favorite, so it's finding a new home soon, and I'm sending it as I found it.

It's the polar bear on "Lost!"

Hair-Raising!

I have "Crafting with Cat Hair, Cute Handicrafts to Make With Your Cat," and I collected hair from Kit Kat and Nacho for about two months after receiving the book for Christmas. Yesterday, I decided to take the plunge and attempt a cat hair finger puppet.

I cut and waterproofed the template- I was ambitious, but I only came up with enough cat hair for one project.

Then, after applying cat hair dampened with water and a little dishwashing detergent, I covered the template with plastic wrap and gently worked the cat hair together.

Sure, I could have been doing laundry.

Finished product to follow!

One Hundredth Post!

For my 100th post, I feel I should do something different. So here is one of my paper dolls I've made- it took me forever, and I hope it will be a fun treat on a dreary day. I've cut one out as a test-run, and you'll need a longer, continuous piece under him to make him stand, but otherwise he works pretty well on cardstock.

Please be kind.
The Super Bowl wore us out. Little Bit and our niece made shakers out of rice and empty bottles, which was a lot of fun. There is still glitter on the floor. On Monday I made a great spicy cheese and broccoli soup out of the leftover Rotel dip and veggies. I don't know whether it was more surprising that the idea worked, or that we had leftover Rotel dip. I got the idea from a recipe here:

The week continued, with Little Bit going to kids' choir on Wednesday and howling like a wolf. Then yesterday evening he got to see Grammy and Pa for dinner. He got a compliment from the waitress at Logan's on his behavior- we'll take it when we can get it!

Saturday with the family

How much do I love my flower loom?

This much!

I see a lot more knitted flowers in my fashion future. The grey and brown ones are really neat- the picture doesn't do them justice. I did these last night because Bitty turned in early after a big day with family.

Little Bit had a great time yesterday with his grandparents and aunt and uncle! He took out his favorite toys to show what they could do, and he had story time at O'Charley's with his yeast rolls. We tried to get him into a nap after they left, but he was having none of it. He ended up sleeping in his spaghetti.
